DIY Fishing Rod Holder
This DIY Fishing Rod Holder is so easy to make and is one of my favorite projects for the screened-in porch! I love how it is both functional and compliments the design of this space so well!
I was also able to make it our of a single Cedar Fence board, so total this cost me less than $8 to make!

Step 1: Cut Boards
To start, I cut four boards the same size (and shape!). I first cut the boards 13” long. Then, since I liked the dog-earred cut of the boards, I used my miter saw on a 45 degree angle and cut the same shape on the straight sides.

Step 2: Drill Holes
I used a 1 ½” drill bit and drill 4 holes into two of the boards. I drilled then every 1 ½” and this ensured they were perfectly spaced!

Step 3: Assemble Base

I then used liquid nails & 1 ¾” nails to attach one of the boards with holes in it to one of the remaining boards without holes. This became the base.
Step 4: Cut Channels
Next, I took the remaining board with holes in it (not the base!) and cut a channel from the edge to the hole. I wanted my rods to alternate which was they leaned, so I cut the two left channels on the right side of the holes and the two right channels on the left side. This was now my top piece.

Step 5: Build & Attach Backing
I took the remaining board and cut it in half using a circular saw. Then using liquid nails and 1 ¾” nails, I attached one of the ½ pieces to the base and one to the top piece.

Step 6: Attach to the Wall
With the backing attached to my top and bottom pieces, I used my drill to screw them into the wall! I first attached the base to determine where I wanted my top board to go. I screwed my top board 50” above the bottom board.
