How to Make a Wreath

Learning how to make a wreath is easier than I thought! I am constantly looking for ways to use our Christmas Tree clippings in our home. I love the smell of Christmas Trees and hate wasting any part of them!  While I made my wreath using tree clippings, you can use any greenery you want to make a DIY Christmas Wreath!

Step 1: Trim the Clippings

To start, I trimmed my clippings down to smaller, more manageable pieces.  I kept a variety of sizes, but the large branches weren’t going to cut it!

Step 2: Glue the Clippings

Next, using a hot glue gun, I glued the clippings onto my foam circle.  I ensured to go in a pattern so they clippings all faced the same way.

TIP: While I had a good pile of clippings to work with, as I went around the DIY wreath I would try different size clippings before gluing them on.  I found a couple times I didn’t have the right size and ended up clipping more pieces as I went!

Step 3: Add Embellishments (optional)

I didn’t want my wreath to be too fancy, but I wanted a pop of red to make it more Christmassy. I decided to use a thick checkered pattern ribbon to hang my wreath with!

NOTE: I only covered one side of my foam circle – if you are doing to display it on a glass door or mirror, I recommend covering both sides!

This is such an easy DIY to make good use of your spare clippings!  If you are looking for more ideas or holiday crafts, check out our DIY Mini Christmas Trees
