I wanted to make these DIY Wedding Seat Assignment Tags to go on our wedding favors! If you didn’t catch my post on our favors, check it out here! We made Bottle Openers out of old tobacco sticks. Once we had settled on our favors, I knew I wanted wedding place cards to tie onto the opener!

Step 1: Layout the Front of the Tags

I laid out the name tags using Word. To match our rustic wedding table decor, I went with Eucalyptus leaves.  I found this image on Google pasted it into my file.  Then, I added the text to input the guest name and corresponding table number on each of the seating cards

Step 2: Layout the Back of the Tags (optional)

Now this is totally optional! I wanted to add a little detail to the back of the tags to give our guests some facts on tobacco sticks.  We assumed most people wouldn’t know much about them and we wanted to share their history!  I chose to put a Maryland Flag as the background and typed up my text in front.

Step 3: Print the Tags

Now for the easy part, printing! I printed the backs first and then flipped around to print the front.

Step 4: Tear out Tags along the Perforated Edge

This step was way more time consuming than I originally thought but I was able to (slowly) tear out each name tag.

Step 5: Loop String through and Attach

With the tags loose, they were ready to be attached! The pack of tags I purchased came with the strings to attach.  The clasp on the strings was actually really nice and gave the tags a professional look!

Name Tags Tip!

name tags

When I first started planning, a friend told me that as a guest the most stressful part for her is wedding reception seating.  She said so many weddings had the seat assignments all in one place and she hated having to push through a crowd to search for where she is sitting!  I really took this to heart because I can absolutely relate to how much anxiety goes into the “where do I sit” moment! I purchased different size buckets and labeled them with a letter for each guest’s last name.  The buckets were spread out, so guests didn’t all go to one place to find their tables!
